Surrey’s 2022 Municipal Election is Saturday, October 15 

The October 15 municipal election is your chance to stop this wasteful and unwanted police transition.  

On or before Saturday, October 15, eligible voters will cast their ballot to elect one mayor and eight councillors. It is important that all Surrey residents exercise their right to vote to set the path for the City of Surrey for the next four years. We will be keeping you up to date with information on how to vote and candidates. Please continue to check back as more information becomes available.  

If you’re an eligible Surrey voter, we encourage you to sign our Pledge to Vote and encourage the prospective candidates for mayor and council to abandon this unpopular police transition.

Register to Vote: 

Registered voters will receive important updates from Elections B.C. after an election is called, including information about where, when, and how to vote. Registering in advance also makes the voting process faster and easier. 

If you’re not sure if you are registered, you can register again, and Elections B.C. will check and update any information that may be out of date.  

To register to vote in British Columbia, you must be: 

  • a Canadian citizen,  
  • 18 or older, 
  • a B.C. resident for the past six months, and 
  • not disqualified from voting.

When & Where to Vote: 

Advance Voting 

October 5, 8, 9 and 12: All eligible voters may vote ahead of election day during advance voting. Advance voting locations are open all four days from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the following six locations: Chuck Bailey Recreation Centre, Guildford Recreation Centre, Fleetwood Community Centre, Princess Margaret Secondary, Cloverdale Recreation Centre, Semiahmoo Secondary.  

Election Day 

Saturday, October 15: On Election Day, eligible voters can vote at any one of the 52 voting locations conveniently located throughout Surrey. All voting locations are open from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Vote by Mail 

This year, mail ballot voting is available to all City of Surrey residents who are eligible to vote. Eligible voters can request a mail ballot package between September 12 and October 12, 2022. You are responsible for ensuring that your completed mail ballot package is received by the Chief Election Official no later than 8pm on Saturday, October 15, 2022.

How to Vote: 

If you are registered, a voter card will be mailed to your household in late September or early October. Bring the voter card with your name listed and one (1) piece of acceptable identification. 

If you are updating your personal information on your voter card, or did not register in advance, you will need to bring two (2) pieces of acceptable identification with you to the voting location.
